Care & Warranty
Natural horn has a character of its own. Its depth, tonal variation and individual grain are part of what makes each M. CORNÉ frame distinctive. With thoughtful care, your eyewear can remain a valued part of your collection for years.
This page explains how to care for natural-horn eyewear, what to expect from the material and how our limited warranty works.
1. Caring for Natural-Horn Eyewear
Natural horn is an organic material. It responds to its environment and should be treated with care.
Keep your eyewear away from excessive heat
Avoid leaving your frames in a parked car, near radiators, beside open flames or in other places exposed to high temperatures. Excessive heat may cause distortion, drying or damage to the horn, frame components or lenses.
Do not leave your eyewear in direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
Avoid prolonged moisture exposure
Remove your eyewear before swimming, bathing or undertaking activities that expose it to substantial moisture. Do not soak the frame or leave it in a damp environment.
If your eyewear becomes wet, gently dry it with a clean, soft cloth and allow it to dry naturally at room temperature.
Clean gently
Use a clean, soft eyewear cloth to remove fingerprints and everyday marks. For lenses, follow the lens manufacturer’s cleaning instructions.
Avoid abrasive cloths, household cleaners, alcohol-based products, solvents, harsh chemicals and unapproved cleaning solutions. These may damage the horn’s finish, lenses, coatings or other components.
Do not use hot water or ultrasonic cleaners unless we or the relevant lens manufacturer have expressly confirmed that the specific frame and lenses are suitable.
Handle with care
Use both hands when putting on or removing your eyewear. Avoid pulling one temple outward with force, twisting the frame or placing unnecessary pressure on the bridge.
Do not attempt to reshape, heat, sand, polish or repair the horn yourself. Contact us or a suitably qualified eyewear professional for assistance.
Store it properly
When not in use, store your eyewear in its protective case, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, moisture and pressure.
Avoid placing the frame face down on a hard surface or storing it loosely with keys, jewellery or other objects that could scratch the lenses or finish.
Arrange adjustments professionally
Hinges, screws, temples and lens fittings may require periodic attention. Have adjustments performed by a qualified eyewear professional familiar with natural-horn frames. Improper heating or forceful adjustment may damage the material.
2. Understanding Natural Variation
Natural horn is not a uniform, factory-produced colour or pattern. Each piece may display variations in tone, grain, translucency, markings and surface character.
These differences are part of the natural material and are not, by themselves, defects.
Product photographs are intended to represent the design and general appearance of the eyewear. Differences between the images and the delivered frame may occur because of natural material variation, lighting, photography and screen settings.
For bespoke commissions, we will explain the available selection process and any agreed specifications before production.
3. Our One-Year Limited Warranty
M. CORNÉ offers a limited warranty for one year from the date of delivery, subject to the terms below and any longer or additional rights required by applicable law.
The warranty is intended to cover manufacturing defects in the frame and workmanship that arise during normal, intended use.
What may be covered
Subject to inspection and the terms of this warranty, covered issues may include:
- A manufacturing defect in the frame or its construction.
- A defect in workmanship that materially affects the intended function of the eyewear.
- A qualifying defect in an original frame component supplied by M. CORNÉ.
Where a valid warranty claim is accepted, we will determine an appropriate remedy, which may include repair, replacement of the affected component, replacement of the eyewear or another remedy available under applicable law.
The appropriate remedy will depend on the nature of the defect, the availability of parts and materials, and applicable legal requirements.
What is generally not covered
To the extent permitted by law, the limited warranty does not cover:
- Accidental damage, impact, crushing or dropping.
- Damage caused by misuse, neglect, improper storage or failure to follow care instructions.
- Damage caused by excessive heat, prolonged moisture exposure or unsuitable chemicals.
- Scratches, cosmetic wear or deterioration resulting from ordinary use.
- Unauthorised repairs, alterations, reshaping or modifications.
- Damage caused by third-party lens replacement or adjustments performed without appropriate care.
- Loss, theft or damage caused by circumstances outside the scope of a manufacturing defect.
Natural variations in horn colour, grain, translucency and markings are not manufacturing defects merely because they differ from product photographs or another frame.
This section does not exclude any defect, remedy or consumer right that applicable law requires us to honour.
4. How to Make a Warranty Claim
If you believe your eyewear has a manufacturing defect, contact care@mcorne.com.
Please include:
- Your order number or proof of purchase.
- Your name and preferred contact details.
- The model name, if known.
- A clear description of the issue.
- Photographs or a short video showing the affected area, where practical.
We may request additional information or ask for the eyewear to be inspected before determining whether the issue qualifies for warranty service.
Please do not send eyewear to an address until we have provided return instructions.
If a claim is accepted, we will explain the available remedy and any applicable shipping arrangements before proceeding.
5. Repairs and Aftercare
If your eyewear needs attention outside the warranty period, contact us before attempting a repair.
We may be able to advise on suitable repair options, subject to the condition of the frame, the availability of components and the nature of the work required.
Any repair or paid aftercare service, its cost, estimated timeframe and shipping arrangements will be confirmed separately before work begins.
We do not promise that every frame can be repaired in every circumstance.
6. Bespoke Eyewear
Bespoke eyewear is created according to agreed individual preferences and specifications. The natural variation of horn means that the final piece may differ in appearance from reference images or preliminary discussions.
The one-year limited warranty applies to bespoke eyewear on the same general basis for qualifying manufacturing defects, unless a written commission agreement expressly provides additional coverage.
Personalisation does not remove rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
7. How This Warranty Relates to Your Legal Rights
This limited warranty is additional to, and does not replace, any mandatory rights or remedies available under applicable consumer law.
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude liability or limit a consumer right where doing so would be unlawful.
